About Us

“Thanks, guys. The RotoJunkies helped me win my league – again!”

I cannot tell you how man times I have read that message from RotoJunkie faithful in the past and frankly, it never gets old. It is one of the many reasons why The BullPen has been one of the longest running fantasy sports sites on the web, first launched back in 1999 on the plains of East Texas by a couple of college kids needing a project for their coding class.

In 2003, some of the initial RotoJunkie braintrust got together on the side in October 2002 and decided it would be a wonderful idea to put out a baseball draft guide, which was entitled the RotoJunkie Fix. The extremely long hours and late nights that the group spent writing, calculation, designing, editing, and compiling that eBook was akin to the amount of time some major league front offices put into their own off-season. This happened for the next consecutive six seasons and while the names and faces on the project may have changed, the quality to excellence did not. The sixth and final Fix was perhaps my proudest moment as administrator of the project and site as all authors agreed to donate 100% of the profits from the guide to the Mike Coolbaugh fund in honor of the minor league hitting coach that was killed by a line drive on the field that left behind a wife and three children.

Recent events in the fantasy sports industry have led us to dust the mothballs off the RotoJunkie Fix project so we could “fix” the situation at hand.  Rather than an eBook design as in years past, this site will be a living and breathing fantasy guide for all of your baseball and football needs throughout the fantasy season. The action will center around The BullPen forums but the site will also be hosting live chats with experts throughout the industry and offer a one-stop shop for links to help you gain exposure to sabermetrics, the latest fantasy news, and other great work some of our friends in the industry are producing.

The primary tenet of this 13-year old fantasy sports community has always been, “of the people, for the people, and by the people.” This is a very tight-knit community of posters that is accepting to all that share a passion for fantasy sports and life itself. Relationships here go beyond message boards as many of the regular posters are in leagues together throughout the country, have attended weddings of other posters, and helped others grieve the loss of a loved one. To illustrate just how much the community values The BullPen, when word went out that The Fix needed to be relaunched, 175% of the funds necessary to set the site up were received within a 36 hour period. There are not enough words to express my gratitude to my friends for their help in re-launching this concept.

There is always a spot for you on the bench here if you decide you just want to lurk, but when you are ready to get into the game, come in to TheBullPen.
